Wow, I am getting so close and I can feel the babies getting bigger and stronger as their kicks feel like they are moving my whole body. Things in the past ten days have gone pretty darn well. I had my "big" shower last Saturday, November 8, 2008. It was amazing, so many people came and so very many gifts. I now feel as though we are at least materially ready for these girls to come home and I am getting really excited.
During my years of dealing with infertility I had a lot of time to dream and imagine what it would be like at my baby shower. Most women dream about their weddings for years and imagine each detail over and over, and though I certainly loved planning my wedding and couldn't imagine a better marriage. My desire for a baby and the "right of passage" baby shower was more like an aching longing that I just couldn't stop dreaming about. Yes, my "big" baby shower was everything I had wanted, I felt so supported and cared for and more importantly, I felt like my girls would have such an incredible support network with all of the wonderful women who were there. I am so lucky and will never forget those three years that I hoped and dreamed for all that I have now.
Of course the babies aren't here yet, and we still have several weeks before I will feel comfortable if they need to be delivered, but on the whole I am feeling really positive. Of course this pregnancy isn't without its problems as anyone following this blog will know. The latest issue which came up at my appointment this past Tuesday I had been having some painful contractions which were infrequent, but kind of scary nonetheless. So now I am on Procardia to quell the contractions and hoping everything else stays within normal parameters. I am also swelling quite a bit, which I have been told is normal, but I go to see Dr. West again on Tuesday and we will see what he thinks.
